Essential Stamping Instructions (Read This!)

You must impress these stamps into the leather using a press. The beautiful images you see in this listing were created on a Harbor Freight Arbor Press. Therefore, we recommend using a similar method for your best results. Crucially, the leather must be cased (or wetted) before you stamp it. You must use a wet sponge to moisten the entire piece of leather. If you don’t wet all the leather, you will get unsightly water spots on the leather.

These are made for use with an arbor press or by placing in a vise and applying slow, even pressure. These WILL NOT withstand hammer blows.

Arbor Press Instructions:

To begin, place a piece of cased leather on a solid platform under the arbor press anvil. Next, place the stamp on top of the cased leather. Then, place a solid platform (it can be a piece of metal or wood stock) on top of the stamp. Afterward, apply downward pressure with the arbor press and hold for 15-20 seconds. Finally, check the result and repeat as necessary to achieve your desired, deep impression.

Vise Instructions:

Alternatively, place the cased leather and stamp between two hard objects (like a board). Be sure to squeeze them tightly so the stamp stays in place. Next, place everything inside the vise. Then, tighten the vise and hold for 15-20 seconds. After that, release the vise and check the imprint depth. Again, repeat as necessary until the impression is perfect.
